Who Is Reading Email?

According to the Pew Internet and American Life Project data from May 2011, 92% of adult US Internet users send or read email. The same data suggests that 66% of those email users do so as part of a typical day.

Nielsen reports that 1 in 2 cell phone users will own a smart phone by Christmas, 2011. And research from Exact Target and other marketing firms reveal that Smart Phone ownership is increasing email usage among students.

While there is no doubt that you must have a social marketing plan in play, email – when used correctly – continues to be an affordable and effective part of any smart marketing campaign.
